If you are traveling alone and on a budget trip then staying in a hostel is the best option.
It is cheap, affordable, social place where you will meet other solo travelers like you. You will make lots and lots of friends.
I have been asked a lot of time, how I manage to travel alone. Some of them just don't understand the idea of Solo Traveling and I don't blame them. You have to experience it to understand it.
My sole purpose of traveling alone is having some 'ME' time along with exploring new places.I love it! And meeting new people is an added bonus.
APPROACHABLE - Travelers staying in hostels are very approachable and it's very easy to make friends. First of all you will be sharing room with other travelers and then there is common room, entertainment room, kitchen, bar, .so there is always an opportunity.
JOIN THE CONVERSATION - You will see lot of hostel mates in groups. Trust me most of them are Solo travelers who have just met each other in the same hostel. So don't be an introvert and start making friends.
KITCHEN - Most of the people who stay in a hostel while traveling prefer to cook their own meal. I've made friends like that..just start the conversation. Just ask for some help and start the conversation:)
BREAKFAST TIME - Most hostels have complimentary breakfast so breakfast time is a good time to mingle.
FEMALE TRAVELER - if you are a female solo traveler and want to explore the night life but scared because of safety reasons, then that is when your hostel friends will come to your rescue. Just tell them you will be going for this night tour/club and if they would like to join you. They might just ask their friends and next thing you know you are heading out with a gang of your own;)
So you'll get lots and lots of opportunity to make friends when you stay in a hostel. Just make sure you have done proper research while picking a hostel. And I strongly believe you should avoid really cheap hostels , staying in a hostel itself is super cheap so try not to compromise there. Try staying in a mid-range hostel with really good reviews..a good hostel will always give you ugood memories in return.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter how many friends you made who you'll keep in touch. What matters is you've met so many people from different culture, countries it just broadens your horizons. You will meet people with whom you will have few seconds of interaction but their impact with stay with you forever for good. And then there will be some who will be your friends forever. Most of all you will come back as new you:)
If you are visiting Dubai during winters then Global village is a MUST on your ' Places to visit in Dubai ' list.
Experience more than 75 countries under one roof (30 pavilions)Where you can shop, eat, enjoy their Amusement rides, fireworks, Stage shows, Concerts, click amazing pictures and videos and have a fabulous time.I have been visiting global village every year from the past 3 years and still cant get over it.
It is a Seasonal attraction that happens every year around the first week of November till 1st week of April.
There are so many varieties to shop. Every time I am here I have this conversation with myself "Why did I buy this from the country I visited when I could buy it from here!! "
My favorite Pavilion is Turkey, it is so beautiful you are going to fall in love with this Pavilion. And the best part is its few steps from the entrance. It's so bright and colorful and lively and Shopkeepers are so friendly you are going to fall in love with this place just like I did.
They have some amazing varieties of lights and Clothes. If you love gowns then they have some excellent collections over there. I have never been to Turkey but after visiting this place I so want to go there now.
My second favorite Pavilion is Africa. Again I have never been to Africa but here you get so much to shop, I buy wooden cooking appliances and raw Shea butter from here every time I visit. And I always make sure I buy homemade soaps from Spain Pavilion.. they have some amazing varieties.
There is so much to buy, you wont find the need to go to the malls.
